Summer in the High Desert is hot, dry and windy, with the occational thunderstorm. Our particular little plot of sand sits in a valley surrounded by hills large enough to be called small mountains. As a result, although the clouds sometimes grow dark and the sky is lit with lighting and rumbles with thunder, not a whole lot of rain actually makes it down on top of us.

These bloomed beautifully for about a month last year. Looking forward to seeing them again.
